Sure, summer may be slowing down (though we're already mourning the end of warm weather, abundant sunshine, and blissful beach days), but this Strawberry Lavender Agua Fresca is sure to keep you in that joyous summer mood. Our friend and blogger gal Gabi Valladares, of By Gabriella, whipped this one up for everyone who's attempting to hold on to summer as long as possible (ahem....us!).
"This agua fresca is especially fun when you're inviting guests over. It's different, without being too experimental by any means. It's a sweet, fruity sip with a surprise floral punch."
"You may be thinking to yourself, strawberry and lavender? Well, I promise you that it works. You taste the strawberries, first and foremost, then the lavender buds sneak their way in at the end for a fresh floral finish."
"It almost sounds like I'm describing wine, which if this was wine, would also sound entirely delicious. In fact, I kept this one pretty free and clear from added sugars. So, it's a naturally sweet sip that isn't loaded with added sugars like sodas and many mocktails."
Are everyone's mouths watering or is that just us? A summer-inspired bev without the guilt? Yes, please, we're all in.
- 2 cups strawberries
- 2 tablespoons lavender buds
- 3/4 cups still water
- 1 cup sparking water
- Wash, de-stem and roughly chop strawberries.
- Blend strawberries, lavender buds, and still water until blended.
- Pour into 4 glasses and top off with sparkling water.
"This recipe makes about 4 glasses, but you can certainly play around with the ratios. If you find that you want less lavender flavor, cut the buds down to 1 tablespoon instead of 2. Same with the water, if you want a thicker agua fresca, just cut down the still and sparkling water."
Okay, you've really got us on the hook, Gabi. A fun, floral summer drink in 3 steps? That's our kind of treat!
