Our Favorite Winter Drink: Warm Up with a Hot Toddy

January 14, 2017

When the temperature drops, there's nothing cozier than curling up with a comforting hot toddy and your favorite Netflix lineup. (Is anyone else addicted to The Crown?)

Luckily, hot toddies are just about the easiest thing you can make and there are endless variations that you can whip up depending on your personal tastes. Below are some of our favorites, including a floral-inspired version in case you're looking for something a little different!

Classic Hot Toddy:

- 4 ounces of boiling water

- 1 teaspoon honey or maple syrup (or to taste)

- Juice of 1/4 lemon

- 1 1/2 ounces of your favorite whiskey (we like Bulleit Bourbon, but Irish whiskey is also good)

- Lemon slice for garnish

Whisk together the hot water and honey or syrup until dissolved. Squeeze in the lemon juice. (If you don't have one of these contraptions, what are you waiting for?)

Add the whiskey and lemon slice and enjoy!

Chamomile Hot Toddy:

Replace the 4 ounces of boiling water with brewed chamomile tea. We think honey and bourbon work best for this version because of the flavors of the chamomile. Garnish with lemon and/or chamomile flowers. Instagram!
