At The Table with Sheena

We’re so excited to introduce Sheena, one of our first Execs in Oregon, let alone the Pacific Northwest! While her resume may read as a #momboss (she’s a dental hygienist and mom to two boys!) she’s a creative at heart who loves to spend her free time pursuing her more flower-powered passions.

Less than one year after joining our Exec community, Sheena joined us in Chicago at our annual Exec conference, hosted a slew of sold out events (including her very first one!) and is gearing up for a busy fall season with events throughout the Salem area! Today she’s sharing a little peek into her life as an Event Exec and why she knew it was the perfect fit for her.

First things first...why did you decide to join the Alice's Table Event Exec program?

One afternoon I was on the internet looking for a fun, creative way to work from home that had a flexible schedule. I ran through a list of top companies and came across Alice's Table. Hmmm...what's this, I thought? I clicked on the website link to see what it was all about. Flower arranging events - it was so up my alley! I've worked as a dental hygienist for twelve years and was craving a more creative outlet. I quickly searched for Oregon events, but nothing came up. It blew my mind that nobody was hosting these fabulous floral arranging events in Oregon and my first thought was, "I could do this!", and the rest is history.

I've always loved flowers & gardening. There's something about fresh cut flowers that warms up a room and makes people smile. If flowers had this effect on me, I couldn’t wait to share them with people in the greater Salem, Oregon area. Alice's Table had everything I was looking for in a work from home job: community over competition, fun, social, creative, working with local businesses, supporting other women, meeting new people, and flexibility. It was simply meant to be.

What's your #ATmoment? (That time you felt you nailed an event, made a connection with a customer, created the perfect arrangement, etc.)

I've had multiple #ATmoments along the way, but my first would have to be selling out on my very first event! My friends and family were extremely supportive and still are. I don't think I had been that nervous since I took my hygiene boards twelve years ago - first event jitters are real!

Mainly, my favorite moments are seeing the joy and happiness that these events bring people. It truly warms my heart to be a bright spot in their day! The flowers are a great bonus, but seeing everyone having a great time is what makes it all worth it. #joyouslife

It’s 5 ‘o'clock, what your drink of choice?

Great Greyhound from one of my favorite restaurants Amadeus. It has vodka, fresh grapefruit, lime, and elderflower. Yum!

You’re hosting a girls night at your house, what’s your best tip?

Don't be afraid to ask for help. Most of the time people are more than happy to help set-up or bring a dish. Entertaining is meant to be fun not overly stressful. Get set-up early so you can relax or have a cocktail before guests arrive.

It’s a beautiful Saturday, where can we find you?

Definitely wine tasting in the Willamette Valley! Cheers!

Last but not least, what’s your favorite flower?

Well I can't pick just one, so... peonies, hydrangeas, lilies, and sweet peas.
